 Shirley has won first prize in the Swanwick poetry competition 2008. Shirley won commended place for her new book for teenagers called Body Trapped at the Winchester Writer's conference 2007. She is looking for a publisher for this book at present. Shirley's book for teenagers, Krystal Bull Psy-Chick, has been shortlisted in the Wannabe a Writer? novel competition March 2008.
